When fire crews arrived, they found the vehicle had struck a tree and was ablaze, while two individuals lay on the ground nearby.

Investigators say Dylan and Kiersten Turney had already pulled the victims from the car and led them to safety as the blaze spread.

Dylan Turney, who serves full time with Spout Springs Emergency Services and volunteers with Crains Creek, lived close to the crash site and responded immediately after hearing the collision.

Spout Springs Emergency Services lauded Dylan’s quick thinking on its Facebook page. The two people pulled from the wreck were taken by ambulance to a trauma center; their identities and conditions have not been released.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Shared photos showed the charred vehicle on the roadside, and the call marked Crains Creek’s first of the year.
